Complete system includes The Following components:
- RA-330 alloy pipe Mounting flange to insure clean reliable access for shim coupon holder.
- Gate Valve for safe insertion and removal of shim coupon holder
- Shim Coupon Holder and shaft.
- Shim cooling chamber that allows the shim coupon to be atmosphere cooled.
Shim testing provides the most reliable and accurate method of atmosphere carbon potential.
Using .003 inch thick plain carbon shim coupons, shims are inserted into the furnace atmosphere for 30 – 45 minutes based on temperature. They are then retracted into the cooling chamber and cooled for 10 minutes.

Carbon content is then obtained by chemical analysis of the shim. IF your lab does not have the equipment for this analysis contact your FCC representative for assistance.
